From time to time, families in the city need a little additional support. As a professional working with these families you will be aware of their needs and if a childcare placement would help support the package of care.
Burbury Park receive referrals from many sources, Family Support Workers, Health Visitors, Think Family workers, Social workers etc. where these workers have identified a need for child care to be put into place to support a local family.
These referrals are wide and varied and cover a whole range of reasons for the referrals. Examples:
- Child Development
- Medical appointments
- Health grounds
- Court dates
- And many many more………….
Who provides the care?
The care is provided by Ofsted registered childminders, who commit to a higher level of training, as laid down by the local authority, to enable them to offer funded places through the scheme. These childminders are regularly visited and supported by a designated co-ordinator, who then will be able to identify the best childminder for the families needs.
- Childminders are able to offer support for:
- Before and after school
- Day time provision
- A few hours, a few days
- One off appointments
- Pick up and drop offs
How long are the placements?
How long is a piece of string….? All of the placements are tailored to the individual needs of the family, some are one day, some are for weeks, it all depends.
What support will I receive?
Each area has a designated co-ordinator who will be able to offer support during the whole process, from telephone conversations pre-application to the actual completion of the referral forms.
The Co-ordinators will also advise on the status/updates of the referral and families needs, and then when the placement is due to end will help support with possible extension requests.
